Zackery Luke Garcia, 32, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, formerly of Slaton, Texas, passed away August 30, 2025, leaving behind a family who dearly loved him.
Born with a nurturing heart, Zackery was the eldest of his siblings and took that role to heart, always protective, always caring, and always showing deep love for his brothers and sisters. His gentle spirit and devotion to family will be remembered by all who knew him.
Zackery graduated from Slaton High School in 2011, where he took pride in learning Welding I and II as well as French I and II. While in high school, he worked at Bownds Body Shop in Slaton, where he first discovered his love for auto body work. That passion carried into adulthood, as he dreamed of pursuing a full career in the automotive field. Zackery also found joy in music, both listening and creating, which brought light to his life and those around him.
He is survived by his loving mother, Priscilla Garcia (husband Jesse Sanchez) of Jeffersonville, IN; his father, Lucas Vasquez of Lubbock, TX; his brothers, Lucas Vasquez Jr., Elizuris Ray Vasquez, Deaven Flores, and Julian Ruiz, all of Lubbock, TX; Eli and Jimmy Benavides of Slaton, TX; and his late brother, Jesse James Sanchez of Jeffersonville, IN. He is also survived by his sisters, Aireanna Monica Flores, Reina Ruiz, and Jasmine Nicole Sanchez, all of Lubbock, TX.
Zackery will also be remembered by his grandmothers, Monica Salinas and Isabel Garcia of Lubbock, TX; his grandfather, Raul Vasquez of Lubbock, TX; his former stepmother, Dora Ruiz and was preceded in death by his grandfather, Manuel Garcia Sr. of Lubbock, TX, and stepfather, Manuel Benavides of Slaton, TX.
He leaves behind many aunts and uncles, Michelle Vasquez, Ruby Vargas, Jessica Garcia Arguelles, Roddy Salazar, Ronney Salazar, Rickey Salazar, Robby Salazar, Joe Vasquez, Joseph John Delacruz, Manuel Garcia Jr. and Michael Garcia, Sr. as well as countless cousins, extended family, and friends who will miss him deeply.
Zackery’s life was defined by his love for family, his talent in mechanics, and his creative spirit. Though his time here was far too short, his memory will continue to inspire and comfort those he loved most.
