William "Billy Bones" Charles Nickels, Jr., age 72, of Louisville, passed away on August 7, 2025.
Born on May 7, 1953, in Louisville, he was a native of the Portland area of the city. Billy spent much of his working life as a carpet installer and later worked in sales at the Harley-Davidson shop. He also operated “Bones' Fix-It Shop,” where he applied his skills to mechanical work and general repairs. A lifelong motorcycle enthusiast, he took particular pride in his 1964 Harley-Davidson Sportster, which he named “Piglet.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, William C. Nickels, Sr. and Rita Eaton-Lister; and his sisters, Paula Nickels-Collins, Tami Nickels-Hinderer and Debbie Nickels-Wright.
He is survived by two sons, Timothy "Scotty" Nickels (Beth) and Mark Keeley (Becky); his grandchildren: Randy Keeley, Mandy Keeley, Tayshawn Nickels, Cheyanne Nickels, Jayden Nickels, and Jaxson Nickels; and his siblings, Dianna Nickels-Sheriff, Janet Nickels-Blankenship, Ronnie Nickels, Sue Nickels-Pugh and Dennis Lister.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the Legacy Schoppenhorst Chapel Funeral Home, 1832 West Market Street, Louisville, KY 40203. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 noon, with cremation to follow.
