Wanda Lee Leister

Wanda Lee Leister, 86, of Clarksville, Indiana passed away on June 20, 2024 at the Historic Villages of SilverCrest in New Albany, Indiana. 

She was born on December 18, 1937 in Louisville, Kentucky, daughter of John Wesley and Helen Sarah (Higgins) Mullins. Wanda retired from Clarksville Community Schools, where she was a Title One aide at George Rogers Clark Elementary School. She was a dedicated and faithful member of Saint Augustine Catholic Church in Jeffersonville, Indiana. She was very active and volunteered in various activities. She cherished traveling and spending precious time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, David L. Leister Sr; son-in-law Tim Walker; sister-in-laws, Hilda and Elta Mullins; brother-in-law, Clarence Smith. Wanda is survived by her loving children; Cindi Walker, Carol Walker (Richard), David Leister (Susan), Gerald Leister (Susan); brothers, John and Donald Mullins; sister-in-law, Linda Smith; along with 9 grandchildren, Kyle (Emily), Amy (Joey), Kara (Kash), Kelsey, Becca

(Kevin), Katie (Justin), Abby, Caroline, Kaitlyn; and 8 great grandchildren and one on the way. 

Legacy Funeral Center, 921 Main Street, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130 has been placed in charge of her care. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 26, 2024 from 4pm to 8pm. Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 11am at Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 1840 East 8th Street, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130. Burial will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Utica, Indiana.
