Steven "Gavo" Gavin

Steven M. "Gavo" Gavin, 67, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home on January 12, 2025. Born on February 24, 1957, in Jeffersonville, he was the beloved son of Charles and Delores Gavin.

Gavo was a dedicated firefighter for the City of Jeffersonville, retiring after 21 years of honorable service. He was a proud and faithful member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.

Gavo found immense joy in life’s simple pleasures. He had a lifelong passion for fishing and golfing, always cherishing the serenity and camaraderie these hobbies brought. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Steven also enjoyed playing card games with family and friends, creating countless cherished memories around the card table. But most of all he was a devoted husband to his loving wife of 49 years, together 51 and loved every minute that they spent together.

Gavo’s unwavering dedication to his family, his faith, and his community will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Gavo is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Rebecca “Becky” Gavin; daughter, Sara Copeland(Christopher); son, Chris Gavin(Jessica); sisters, Laura Pfund(Billy), Deborah West(Gary); brothers, Tommy Gavin(Carmella), Bob Gavin(Tracey); along with 4 grandchildren, Tonya Williams, Kaelyn Gavin, Mason Copeland, Maxwell Copeland; along with many loved nieces and nephews.

There will be a visitation held on Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 4-8pm at Legacy Funeral Center, 921 Main Street, Jeffersonville, Indiana. His service will be on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 12pm with more visitation held from 10-12pm at Legacy Funeral Center.
