Sandra Kiefer Peyton, lifetime resident of Louisville, KY, passed away on April 24th, 2022, at the age of 68. She was surrounded by close friends and family at the time of her passing, just as she had hoped. She was born on August 21st, 1953, to her loving parents Charles Emmett Kiefer and Caroline (Denham) Kiefer.
Sandy was a lover of many things – family, friends, cooking, Kentucky basketball and making everyone laugh. There was never a quiet room with Sandy in it. The life of any party, her smile lit up each room she was in. She made quick friends with everyone she crossed paths with. She had many best friends, many of which were lifelong friends from childhood. Sandy prided herself in being a good neighbor and went out of her way to love those that lived in the neighborhood.
Sandy cherished her time alongside the love of her life, Jerry. They shared countless wonderful memories together and a deeply special bond. She was a great teammate and encourager for him. Sandy also loved being a mother, working hard to help provide for her family. Outside of her career, she helped her kids with homework, preparing dinner, and enjoying time with them before bed. Caring, present and protective of her kids, she also held the role of MawMaw for a number of grandkids, great grandkids, and "Grandy Sandy" to even more “adopted” grandkids. She deeply loved her family and put them above everything else. Sandy was a diligent employee, spending over 35 years working in the financial field as a leader at National Processing Company/ Bank of America/ First Data, followed by an additional two years of work at UPS. There was never a dull day on the job for Sandy, often sharing hilarious stories of working alongside some of her best friends. Sandy left her job at UPS when she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in 2015. But she wasn’t done working, as she spent 7 years battling to beat cancer and far outlived the initial timetable. Sandy was a fighter who never met a challenge that was too tough or heavy for her to overcome. Sandy’s time on this earth has ended, but her legacy will continue for generations. Sandy didn't want tears in her absence, but every conversation to be filled with joyous laughter. Let us honor her each day by loving well, fighting hard, and laughing often.
In addition to her parents, Charles Emmett Kiefer and Caroline Denham Kiefer, Sandra is preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Garrison.
Left to cherish her memory, Sandra leaves behind the love of her life for over 40 years, Jerry Peyton; 1 daughter, Shana Peyton (Marty Waldeck); 1 son, Clint Peyton (Emma); 2 stepsons, Chad Peyton (Kim), and Travis Peyton (Lara); 1 brother, David Kiefer; 7 grandchildren, Kyle Peyton, Bradley Peyton (Megan), Hutson Peyton, Braxton Bridwell, Madison Peyton, Jaden Peyton, and Banks Peyton; 2 great grandchildren, Navy Peyton, and Tinsley Peyton; 3 close friends, Thea, Priscilla, and Judy; and a host of extended family and close friends.
