Sammy Junior Moreland

Sammy Junior Moreland, 72, of Jeffersonville, Indiana passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 in Georgetown, Indiana. He was born on October 15, 1950 in Albany, Kentucky, son of Sam Moreland and Ila (Melton) Moreland. Sammy retired after 37 years in maintenance at G.E., and was a member of Christ Community Church of Nazarene in New Albany, Indiana. He was a true good-hearted servant to all people and loved to help them in any capacity and enjoyed restoring his 65 GTO, spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and was an avid UK fan.

In addition to his parents Sammy was preceded in death by a son, Stuart Patrick Moreland; two sisters, Eva & Dorothy. He is survived by his loving high school sweetheart of 52 years, Nancy (Brown) Moreland; daughter, Cara Burton(Luke); sisters, Judy Cooksey(Keith), Pat Huddleston(Phillip); along with 5 grandchildren, Bryn, Sean, Sashia, Ila, Ashly.

There will be a Celebration of Life held on Saturday, May 20, 2023 from 2-4pm at Christ’s Community Church, 4920 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana 47150.
