Rose Marie Diale-Smith, age 67, was born on January 11, 1957, in Louisville, KY, and passed
away on December 26, 2024, at her residence in Louisville. Rose was a devoted homemaker and
a cherished member of Jefferson Hill Church. Her favorite color was purple, and she found joy in
spending time with her family and children, attending church services, dining out—especially at
Olive Garden—playing games on her phone, and watching horror movies.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Alma Jean Crutcher; her husband, Steve Smith; her
brothers, Ricky Gardner and Stevie Gilpin; her sister, Ellie Mae Gardner; and her grandchildren, Charlie Shea Diale
and Nicholas Scott Diale.
Rose is survived by her loving children: Crystal Smith, Steven Diale (Andrea), Kevin Diale
(Angela), and Scott Diale (Sharon). She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: David
Wilson, Matthew Diale, Katie Diale, Bradly Hale, Morgan Patterson, Kevin Diale, Jr., Hailee
Johnson, Anthony Diale, P.J. Wilkinson, Lukas Wilkinson, and Araina Muss. Her great-
grandchildren include Kinsley Wilson, Novalynn Wilson, David Wilson IV, Jace Sewell,
Jackson Hale, Wrenley Hale, Ben Diale, and Laila Abdulhadi.
She is also survived by her brother, Charlie Gardner, and her sisters, Christine Lanier and
Jerriette Garcia.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 3, 2025, at the Legacy
Schoppenhorst Chapel, 1832 West Market Street, Louisville, KY 40203, with burial to follow at
Penn Run Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM until 5:00 PM on Thursday,
January 2, and from 9:00 AM until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
Rose will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
