Obituary

Veteran Richard Dean Glass, 65, of Jeffersonville, Indiana passed away unexpectedly at his home on August 16, 2023.

Richard was born in Louisville Kentucky, on February 23, 1958 to Charles W. and Florence Glass. He faithfully served his country in the United States Marine Corp from 1976-1984 (earned Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, Combat Action Ribbon / Good Conduct Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Humanitarian Service Medal and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon) and the Army National Guard from 2004-2006. He graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2013 with an Associate of Science Business degree and later retired from the Census Bureau in 2022. Richard loved being outdoors and was a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan.

Richard is survived by his parents, longtime companion and friend, Shannon Vitt, his daughters; Amy A. Price, Amber M. Chesterfield (Dan), Kirstie A. Via (Eric) and Shea L. Glass, brothers; Tony Glass and Danny Glass, as well as numerous grandchildren that he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Annette Riggs; his grandparents, Alice and Ed Knoop, Tommy Harrison (step-father) and Anna Glass Harrison.

A private service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of Richard’s favorite charities; St. Jude Children’s Hospital Research.
