Rachel Logsdon Obituary

Rachel Ann Logsdon, age 39, of New Albany, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from complications due to long-term health issues.  Rachel was born on December 18, 1985 in Louisville. Rachel will be remembered for her strength, compassion and unwavering love for her family.

A 2004 graduate of Portland Christian High School, Rachel carried her faith with her throughout her life, traveling on mission trips with her church and dedicating herself to caring for others.  She later earned her certification as a CNA, a role that perfectly matched her generous spirit and desire to help those in need.  A devoted caregiver at heart, Rachel spent several years serving as a CNA at Green Valley and Lincoln Hills Health Care. She approached her work with tenderness and dedication, treating each person she cared for with dignity, respect, and genuine kindness. Her calling to help others extended beyond her career—Rachel was a faithful volunteer with the Special Olympics for many years, where she formed lasting connections and brought endless joy to those whose needs were different from her own.

Among Rachel’s proudest moments were meeting and falling in love with Matt, and the births of her three sons—Jackson, Bryalon, Xavier—and later on when Logan joined their family.  Rachel was known for her resilience, her tender heart, and the joy she found in every moment spent with her boys.  Rachel’s adventurous spirit and her love for Jesus carried her across the world on several mission trips, including journeys to Barbados and Guatemala. She shared her faith with quiet strength, always eager to lend a hand, offer a prayer, or simply be a comforting presence to those in need. She believed deeply in shining light wherever she went, and she did so beautifully.

She cherished exploring new places, but the ocean always felt like home. Many of her happiest days were spent at Fort Myers Beach, making treasured memories with her family as the waves rolled in and the sun dipped low over the water. Rachel also loved cheering for her beloved UK Wildcats—basketball season brought excitement, energy, and plenty of blue pride into her home.

Rachel was preceded in death by her father, Doug Logsdon, Jr.; her step-father, Darrell Crowe; grandfathers, Doug Logsdon, Sr. & Floyd Fields.

She is survived by her loving life partner of over twenty years, Matthew Holcomb of New Albany; her beloved sons, Jackson, Braylon, and Xavier Holcomb; her mother, Beverly Crowe (Manuel) of New Albany; sister, Erin Logsdon; brother, Shaun Logsdon; and grandmothers, Mary Jane Fields & Betty Logsdon. Rachel’s memory is also cherished by her step-sisters, Maranda Drane and Amanda Crowe; step-brother, Matthew Crowe; as well as nephews, Michael Crowe and Logan Zachary.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at Legacy Funeral Center – Scott Chapel (921 Main Street, Jeffersonville), officiated by Bro. Doug Melton. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery in Crandall, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 10 AM until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.

Rachel leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, faith, and compassion. She will be remembered for her bright smile, her generous heart, and the way she made every person feel seen and valued. She touched countless lives, and her spirit will continue to shine through the people who loved her most.
