Phyllis Sue Snelling, age 82 of Henryville, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and beautiful memories that will be cherished forever.
Born to the late Theodore and Della Marie (Lentz) Morrison, Phyllis devoted her life to what mattered most to her—her family. A loving homemaker, she created a home that was always warm, welcoming, and filled with joy. She found her greatest happiness in having her family gathered together, especially during the holidays. Christmas at her house was something truly special—tables full of food, hearts full of love, and laughter echoing through every room as she soaked in the presence of those she adored most. Phyllis had a playful spirit that made every moment brighter. Whether she was playing BINGO (and cursing when the correct numbers weren’t called out) or sitting around the table playing board games with the kids, she brought fun and laughter wherever she went. Her love for music was just as vibrant; she enjoyed playing it loud and singing along without hesitation, filling her home with both melody and joy. Phyllis attended Faith Evangel Tabernacle in Jeffersonville. She loved Jesus and was a devout follower of her Savior.
She was a wonderful cook, known especially for her famous peanut butter fudge—a treat that became a sweet tradition for those lucky enough to enjoy it. Gifted with her hands, Phyllis also had a special talent for crocheting. Each blanket she made for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was more than just a gift—it was a labor of love, every stitch woven with care, blessings, and the hope of warmth for years to come. Above all, Phyllis loved deeply and unconditionally. She was the heart of her family—a steady source of comfort, strength, and tenderness. She sheltered her loved ones with unwavering devotion, kissed away life’s little hurts, and had a remarkable way of bringing light into even the darkest days. There was truly nothing she wouldn’t do for her husband, children, and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Don, William, Tony, and Glen; her sisters, Myrna and Monk; and her beloved great-grandson, Eli Fraze.
Phyllis leaves behind a legacy of love to be carried on by her devoted husband of 65 years, Dick Snelling; her daughters: Vickie Fraze (Todd) and Jessica McCarthy; her son, Richard Snelling (Shelly); sisters, Daisy Kincaid, Ann Graham, and Barb Morrison; and her brother, Kenny Morrison. She will be deeply missed by her six grandchildren—Morgan, Drew, Cassie, Matthew, Kayla, and Josie—along with her fifteen great-grandchildren—Lane, Amelia, Hadley, Lincoln, Miles, Gracie, Lucas, Alex, Olivia, Presley, Cailyn, Clark, Gabriel, Grayeson, and Elijah—and her precious great-great-granddaughter, Josephine.
Though her absence leaves a space that can never be filled, the love she gave so freely will continue to live on in each life she touched. Her legacy is one of warmth, kindness, laughter, and an unbreakable bond of family.
Funeral services will be held 7 PM on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at Legacy Funeral Center, Scott Chapel (921 Main Street, Jeffersonville). Friends may visit from 4:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home.
