Phyllis Ann Collett, 74, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 12, 2024, in Louisville, Kentucky, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 13, 1949, to James William and Clara Drucella Gordon in Lebanon, Kentucky.
Phyllis was a devoted mother to her four sons, for whom she had endless love and pride. They were her whole world, and she cherished every moment spent with them, creating cherished memories that will endure through generations. One of Phyllis's greatest passions was her love for Elvis Presley. His music brought joy and inspiration to her life. She had a large collection of his music and memorabilia. Phyllis also had a very large collection of dolls and purses, each one holding a special place in her heart especially her Elvis purse. She would like to relax by watching movies, (sometimes back to back) or play seek and finds in her living room. Phyllis also had a deep bond to her beloved dog, Max. Another of her favorite pastimes was watching movies, often watching her favorites repeatedly, finding comfort and familiarity in their stories.
Phyllis will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for her family and cherished interests. She leaves behind a legacy of love and joy that will continue to inspire those who knew her.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, James and Clara Gordon; 2 husbands, Gene Sandlin, and Thomas Collett; and 2 sons, Jerry Sandlin and Jason Sandlin.
Left to cherish her memory, Phyllis is survived by 2 sons, Jeremy Sandlin (Tina), and Brian Sandlin; 5 step-children, Teresa Collett, Joyce Collett, Sonny Collett, Phillip Collett, and Tommy Collett; 4 grandchildren, Jacob McCarthy (Madi), Brianna Kelly, Justice Jansing, and Crystal Summitt; 3 great-grandchildren, Orion McCarthy, Connor McCarthy, and Stella McCarty; sister, Bobbie Lynn Maddox; aunt, Merrilyn Neafus (Robert); daughter-in-law, Pat Sandlin; faithful companion, Max; and a host of extended family and close friends.
A funeral service for Mrs. Phyllis Ann Collett will be held at 7 PM on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Legacy Funeral Center – Nunnelley Chapel, 4327 Taylor Blvd., Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation will be held from 3 PM to 7 PM at the funeral home, prior to the service.
