Paul Kent Hughes, 60, of Henryville, Indiana heard the words of his Lord and Savior, “Well done, good and faithful servant” early in the morning on Thursday, November 4, 2021, in his home with loved ones by his side.
Paul was born on June 27, 1961, in Louisville, KY to the late William (Bill) and Catherine Hughes. Paul was the youngest of seven children, who adored their precious Paulsie, as many of them would still refer to him.
Paul met his loving wife, Pam, while they were in elementary school. They went on to be high school sweethearts. Their love would persevere through many trials as they continued to build a life together that was beautiful and full of love. In September of this year, Paul and Pam celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary. Paul was an amazing and devoted father to three daughters and gained three sons through them: Kelsey and David, Kailey and Mason, and Jami and Graham. Paul continually spoke of how he loved spending time with his son-in-laws and enjoyed planning their next adventure. Paul was “Booga” to seven grandchildren that he adored: Rylee, Reagan, Eleanor, Reece, Samuel, Shepherd, and Evelyn.
Paul was quick to tell a joke but also intentionally loved others. Paul was a member of Memphis Christian Church where he and Pam served faithfully. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age and served Him through many ministries and through the life he lived. Christ had created in Paul a heart for people. He never met a person that he wasn’t willing to serve and was quick to open his home. Pam and the girls would often be surprised by someone they didn’t know showing up to Thanksgiving Dinner because Paul asked everyone he’d met if they had a place to go. Paul’s heart for people and Christ was at the center of these invitations.
Paul loved spending time riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, gardening, running the beagles, going to the beach, and being a son to his mother-in-law, Eunice.
Paul is preceded in death by both of his parents; older brother, Billy; brother-in-law, Ray Donahoe; niece, Leigh Grass; and great nephew, Zachary Taylor. Those who carry on Paul’s legacy are siblings: Cathy Donahoe, Linda Taylor, Jesse Hughes (Kathy), Michael Hughes, Ronnie Hughes (Lisa), and sister-in-law Louann, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 12-6:45pm on Friday, November 12, 2021, at Memphis Christian Church (13503 Memphis-Bluelick Rd, Memphis, IN 47143) and his Celebration of Life will begin at 7pm following the visitation.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to the family for Paul’s past medical expenses through the link below or given through a donation box at the service. The family of Paul is so appreciative of the heartfelt messages and gifts that have been given to the family during this difficult time.
