Patty J (McDowell) Shetler

Patty J. McDowell Shetler, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at home, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Jeffersonville, Indiana, to the late John and Emma McDowell, Patty was the heart and soul of her family, shaping its foundation with love, strength, and unwavering devotion.

A nurturing and selfless woman, Patty dedicated her life to her family, instilling values that will continue to resonate for generations. She was affectionately known as Granny to her grandchildren and Nana to her great-grandchildren, titles she held with great pride and joy. Her presence brought warmth and comfort, and her wisdom and kindness were gifts she generously shared with all who knew her.

Patty was preceded in death by her son, Curtis Bikai; her parents; and numerous siblings.

She leaves behind a legacy of love in her daughter, Nina Howard (Jemeil); grandchildren, Malik Bikai, Da'Quan Molina, Jaiden Molina, and Jayla Howard; great-grandchildren, Jayceon Howard, Lundyn Molina, and Edward Knightnor; and siblings, Carol Cramer, Terry McDowell, Timmy McDowell, and Charles Spencer. She will also be deeply missed by a host of nieces and nephews who cherished her dearly.

Patty’s family has honored her wish for cremation, with Legacy Funeral Center, 921 Main Street – Jeffersonville, entrusted with arrangements. Her ashes will be laid to rest alongside her beloved son, the late Curtis Bikai, at Walnut Ridge Cemetery, a place where their spirits will forever be reunited.
