Patti Lou Hawkins

Patti Lou Hawkins, 95, of Jeffersonville, Indiana passed away on May 5, 2021 at her home. She was born to the late Walter Siron Schmidt and Sallie Arline Woolsey on February 18, 1926 in Durant, Oklahoma. Patti was a wonderful homemaker and a member of Church of God in Charlotte, North Carolina. She attended Denton High School in 1945 and then went on to North Texas State teachers College from 1945 to 1946.  She worked for Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company as an operator and she was a member of the Communications Workers of America. Patti was married on October 10, 1953 to the late William Gene Hawkins in Grayson County Texas.  She enjoyed painting, flower arranging, and gardening, and she volunteered at the Jeffersonville Library.

Her Parents and Husband precede her in death.  Her sons, William P. Hawkins (Charlean), Ronald G. Hawkins (Terry); sister, Juanita Joy Schmidt; five grandchildren, Michael Gene Hawkins, Talara Doyle, Whitney Taylor, Stephen Hawkins, Christopher Russell along with six great- grandchildren and one on the way survive her.

There will be a visitation held on Saturday, May 8 2021 from 12-4pm with service to follow at Legacy Funeral Center, 921 Main Street, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130. Burial will be on Monday, May 10, 2021 at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana.
