Ollye Mae Davenport Clark, 94, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2023, in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born on October 11, 1929, to the late Charles Edward “Horton” Davenport and Leora Frances Moran Davenport in Greensburg, Kentucky. Ollye was a loving wife, mother and daughter. Growing up on a farm during the Great Depression, Ollye was a hardworking, strong, outspoken, independent person. She was a Kentucky Colonial, and very active in politics. Along with her husband, David, she helped establish Iroquois High School in the Beechmont neighborhood. Ollye was an active member of Epiphany United Methodist Church, where she graciously served for many years. She was an amazing and caring person who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Horton and Leora Davenport, Ollye is preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, David Joseph Clark; son, Joseph R. Clark; brother, Carlos Davenport; and a sister, Mary Hazel Cross.
Left to cherish her memory, Ollye leaves behind 2 daughters, Erica Clark-Coyle, and Patti Ann Clark; 2 sisters, Gayle Holland of Greensburg, KY, and Genevieve Buckner of Hodgenville, KY; brother, Randy Davenport of Greensburg, KY; special family, Mary Simpson-Cooper, Justin and Mallory Kellerman, and Janet Kallam; many nieces/nephews; and a host of extended family and close friends.
A funeral service for Mrs. Ollye Mae Clark will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 South Main Street, Greensburg, Kentucky. Visitation will be held from 2 PM to 6 PM on Friday, November 24, 2023, at Epiphany UMC, 7032 Southside Drive, Louisville, Kentucky; and prior to the service from 10 AM to 1 PM, at the funeral home. Burial at Davenport Cemetery in Greensburg, Kentucky will follow the funeral service.
