Odell Shives

Odell Shives, 91, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025 at his home with his family by his side.

He was born on January 25, 1934, in Barren County, Kentucky, the son of the late Clyde and Opal  Shive.

Odell retired after many years of dedicated service with the Indiana State Highway Department. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. A man of strong faith, Odell was a lifelong Baptist who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—fishing, hunting, and spending time and making wonderful memories with his family.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Odell is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Karen Shives; daughter, Robin Furlong(Michael); son, Kenney Shives(Tiffany); along with 10 grandchildren, Jacqueline Coleman(Benjamin), Kendall Cunningham(Isaiah), Jasmine Coleman, Caleb Allison, River Coleman, Laynee Coleman, Alyssa Melvin, Madison Melvin, Kylee Coleman, Lydia Coleman.

There will be a visitation held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 from 3-6pm with a service to follow at 6pm at Legacy Funeral Center, 921 Main Street, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130.

Burial will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at Union 2 Cemetery at 2pm in Summer Shade, Ky.
