Norma Jean Hill (Dowdell), 96, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, May 6, 2024, at St. John’s Home in Rochester, New York. She was born on April 1, 1928, to Owen and Ora Dowdell in Louisville, Kentucky.
Throughout her life, Norma Jean's home in Louisville was the center of activity for the whole family with large gatherings for every holiday and celebration. Her house was the one her kids and all of the neighborhood kids gathered to play basketball in the alley, badminton and croquet in the yard, or just to spend their free time there. She was “Mom” to many more than just those of her own.
She loved and was loved by everyone whom she met and will be sorely missed by all.
Norma is preceded in death by her husband, John W. Hill; son, John W. (Butch) Hill Jr.; parents, Owen and Ora Dowdell; and a grandson, Robert E (Robbie) Huffman Jr.
Left to cherish her memory, Norma is survived by a sister, Martha Ann Taylor; 3 daughters, Brenda H Ford (Eric), Rebecca H Huffman (Robert), and Shannon L Oldham (Durhon-deceased); 8 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service for Mrs. Norma Jean HIll will be held at 12 PM on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Legacy Funeral Center - Nunnelley Chapel, 4327 Taylor Blvd, Louisville, Kentucky.
