Nina Mae Lawrence

Nina Mae Lawrence, 80, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021, in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born February 16, 1941, to August and Nellie Lawrence in Louisville, Kentucky. Nina loved her family. She was a loving mother and granny and often helped raise a lot of the neighborhood kids.  Nina was funny and outgoing and loved playing bingo, and watching her UofL Cardinals play. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Nina is preceded in death by her parents, August Lawrence and Nellie (Epperson) Lawrence; siblings, Ruth Ann Lawrence, August Lawrence Jr., Melvina DeWitt, and Rosie Hack; children, Ula Mae Couch, Mavis Melvin, Otis DeWitt, Richard DeWitt, and Joseph DeWitt; grandchildren, Tina Maynard, Joyce Melvin, Elizabeth Webb; great-grandchild, Elexis DeWitt; and great-great-grandchild, Ally Marie. 

Left to cherish her memory, Nina leaves behind her children, Byron DeWitt, Rheta Shaw, and Jed DeWitt; siblings, Nellie "Sissy" DeWitt, Phronie Lawrence, Karen Mattingly (John), Franklin Lawrence, Jessie Lawrence, and James Lawrence; 34 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends. 

A funeral service for Ms. Nina Mae Lawrence will be held at 12 PM on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Legacy Funeral Center- Schoppenhorst Chapel, 1832 W. Market Street, Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 29, 2021, from 11 AM to 8 PM and prior to the service, at the funeral home. Burial at Bethany Cemetery will follow the funeral service.
