Nancy Jane Hyatt, age 78, of Charlestown, Indiana, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky.
She was born on May 5, 1947, in Evansville, Indiana, the beloved daughter of the late William and Edna Smith.
Nancy was a devoted and hardworking woman who spent many years as a welder at the former Jeffboat shipyard, where she took great pride in her work before retiring. A woman of quiet strength and Christian faith, Nancy lived a life centered around family, friendship, and simple joys.
She cherished time spent with her loved ones, whether gathering for family meals, traveling on adventures with close friends, or enjoying a lively game of Bingo with her sisters. Nancy was known for her love of movies, her kind heart, and her loyal and fun-loving nature.
She will be remembered as a caring sister, friend, and companion whose presence brought warmth and laughter to those around her.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Smith. She is survived by her sisters, Judy McCarty(George), Susan Osbourne; close friend, Susan Graham; along with several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 from 1-6pm with service to follow at Legacy Funeral Center, 921 Main Street, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130.
