Mildred E. “Gene” Greschel, 87, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023, in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born on October 23, 1935, to the late David and Mildred Potter in Hampton, Tennessee. Gene was independent and strong. She loved her family deeply, and was an extremely dedicated, and amazing grandmother. Her grandchildren were her main focus, and she enjoyed golfing, and traveling around the world with them. They would go everywhere together. Gene was a graduate of Manuel High School, class of ’53, former longtime employee at Radcliff Homes, an avid member of South Park Country Club, and former President of Beechmont Women’s Club. In her spare time, Gene enjoyed playing bridge, and mostly spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, David Eugene and Mildred Potter, Gene is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert A. Greschel; and a grandson, Sam Tougher.
Left to cherish her memory, Gene leaves behind 2 daughters, Susie Tougher (Jim), and Becky Wells; 4 grandchildren, Becca Tougher, Will Tougher, Matthew Wells, and Melissa Dean (Caleb); 2 great grandchildren, Dakota Bradshaw, and Hurricane Dean; 1 great-great grandchild, Zealand Bradshaw; 2 brothers, Mark Potter, and David Potter; close companion of 5+ years, Harvey Wooden; and a host of extended family and close friends.
Cremation has been chosen, with burial to follow at 11 AM, on March 20, 2023, at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, 2501 N. Dixie Blvd., Radcliff, KY.
