Mary "Marlene" Hickey, age 67, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 7, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family. Marlene was a beacon of warmth and love, her presence a constant source of comfort and joy to all who knew her.
Marlene's passion for cooking was evident in every dish she lovingly prepared. Her kitchen was a place of creativity and warmth, where the aroma of her delicious meals welcomed family and friends alike. But Marlene's generosity extended far beyond her own table. She selflessly opened her kitchen to others, ensuring that no one went hungry and that all were nourished, not just by her food, but by her boundless kindness.
However, Marlene's greatest joy came from her role as a devoted wife and mother. She cherished every moment spent with her beloved husband and children, finding fulfillment and purpose in the simple joys of family life. Her home was a haven of love and laughter, where memories were made and traditions cherished. If not busy preparing her Paula Dean-style creations she could be found buying pull tabs at the local bingo hall.
In her later years, Marlene discovered a deep sense of community and belonging at Riverside Baptist Church. There, she found friendship, support, and solace, strengthening her faith and enriching her life in countless ways.
Though Marlene has left this world, her legacy of love and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. The Hickey family takes great comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with her beloved husband, Ronald Lee, in eternal peace.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Ronald Lee Hickey; siblings, Butch Boyd, Patricia Quinn, and Darlene Gaskill.
Survivors include her children, Carrie Sams (Andrew), Jason Hickey, Todd Hickey, and Steven Hickey; grandchildren, Kaylen Hibbs (Alex) and Jacob Sams (Olivia); great grandchildren, Peyton and Easton Hibbs; sister, Cheri Ann Skiles (Larry “LB”); and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held 3-8 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Legacy Funeral Center – Nunnelley Chapel, 4327 Taylor Boulevard. Funeral services in celebration of her life will be held 12:30 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2024, at the funeral home, with burial to follow.
