Mary Jo McKinney Obituary

Mary Jo McKinney passed away in her home on July 20, 2021.  She was born on May 24, 1943 in Jeffersonville, IN to the late Charles and Trini Mayflower.  Mary Jo attended St. Augustine grade school and was a graduate of Providence High School in 1961. That same year she was runner up for Ms. Clark County, something she was very proud of.  Over the next few years she worked several jobs, one of which was the Trolley Inn where she met her husband Melvin.  She discovered her love for retail working for over 35 years at Sears in the Green Tree Mall.  Mary Jo loved riding horses, fashion, her Bunco club with girlfriends, and dancing with her husband especially the Jitter Bug.  She always enjoyed shopping and finding as she called them “Good Deals” even if nobody in the family could use it.  Her strong catholic faith was very important to her and continued to be a member of St. Augustine/Sacred Heart Church throughout her life.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Melvin Lloyd McKinney; children, David (Carla) McKinney, Trina McKinney, Terry (Mark) Grider; Grandchildren, Stephen Miller, Brandon (Heather Heath) Oaks, Samantha Grider, Kendall Cline, Nicholas Grider, and Robert Cline II; Great-grandchild, Oliver Oaks; sister, Trini Webb; a host of nieces and nephews, other family members, and caregiver, Jennifer Armstrong.

Visitation will be at Legacy Funeral Center (921 Main Street, Jeffersonville, Indiana) on Friday, July 23, 2021 from 4pm-8pm, and on Saturday, July 24, 2021 from 9:30am-10:30am. Funeral Service will be at 10:30am on Saturday, July 24. Burial will take place at Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
