Mary Kate Bond, 95, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born on July 11, 1928, to Elmer and Mary Phillips in Erlanger, Kentucky. Mary loved her family unconditionally, and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend. She was deeply religious, and spent a lot of time spreading fellowship at the church. Mary based her life on faith and love. This was evident in her marriage, and she and her husband, Thomas, complimented each other completely and were one another’s rock. Mary was also a hard worker. At her retirement party from Kroger, she joked about how much time she spent in her car on the Watterson. She detailed it down to the minute, Mary was very meticulous and detail oriented. In her spare time, Mary enjoyed getting dressed up and going out to dinner, going on car rides, hosting and cooking for family gatherings, reading, painting, and listening to audio books. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Mary Early Phillips; her loving husband, Thomas J. Bond; daughter, Robin Shamshak; sister, Virginia L. Bean; and a grandson, Brandon Bond.
Left to cherish her memory, Mary is survived by 4 nieces, Judy Rothenhausler, Margerie Patterson, Donna Cameron, and Missy Metzger; caregivers, Dennis J. and Eliota M. Addison; and a host of extended family and close friends.
