Martha Ray Haynes, 81, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2024, in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on May 30, 1942, to Shelby and Madie Oller, Martha spent her entire life in Louisville, where she cultivated a loving home and a close-knit community. Martha was the heart and soul of her family, deeply devoted to her husband and children. She found immense joy in taking care of her children, always putting their needs first. Martha had a warm and welcoming spirit, frequently inviting her children’s friends and neighbors over to share meals and enjoy each other’s company. Her home was a gathering place filled with love and laughter.

A lover of the outdoors, Martha had a green thumb and spent many happy hours planting flowers and tending to her garden. She also cherished her road trips to visit family in Leitchfield, Kentucky, creating countless memories along the way. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a source of great pride and joy, and she delighted in babysitting them whenever she could. In her quieter moments, Martha enjoyed watching television, especially news programs and shows about plants. These simple pleasures brought her comfort and a sense of connection to the wider world.

Martha’s legacy of love, kindness, and hospitality will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a family who adored her and a community who appreciated her generous spirit. Martha Ray Haynes’ life was a testament to the power of love and the joy of nurturing others. Her memory will forever bloom in the hearts of those she touched.

Martha is preceded in death by her loving husband of 50+ years, Willard Ray Haynes Sr.; parents, Shelby Oller, and Madie Wilson Oller; daughter, Tina Voss; and 2 great-grandchildren, Cheyanna Voss, and Christina Voss.

Left to cherish her memory, Martha is survived by 3 children, Willard Haynes Jr. (Leslie), Amanda Lewis (Jerry), and Regina Haynes; 6 grandchildren, Marcella Voss-Cranmer, Ashley Lewis, Justin Voss, Robert Haynes, Jerry Lewis Jr., and Kessie Haynes; 3 great-grandchildren, Patience Voss, Makayla Wright, and Killian Voss; son-in-law, Robert Voss; several nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and close friends.

A funeral service for Mrs. Martha Ray Haynes will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Legacy Funeral Center – Schoppenhorst Chapel, 1832 W. Market Street, Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, from 12 PM to 4 PM, and prior to the service beginning at 9:30 AM, at the funeral home. Burial at Antioch Cemetery in Horse Branch, Kentucky will follow the service.
