Marlayn Kay Emery, 70, of Jeffersonville, Indiana passed away on May 20, 2024 at Clark Memorial Hospital. She was born on December 7, 1953 in New Albany, Indiana daughter of Edward and Seeona (Bohannon) Cook.
Marlayn was married to her devoted husband, Larry Emery for 54 wonderful years and they formally lived in Leavenworth, Indiana before moving to Jeffersonville. She was a dedicated homemaker and caregiver to her loving family and in her earlier career worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant and show cased her culinary talents as a cook at the Overlook Restaurant.
In addition to her professional endeavors, Marlayn was a devoted member of Main Cross Independent Baptist Church. She also enjoyed quilting, sewing and spending time with her loving family. Marlayn leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication and faith to inspire her family and friends.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, William Emery; brother, Edward Cook Jr.; half brother, Joe Carroll; half sister, Sharon Small. Marlayn is survived by her loving husband, Larry Emery; daughters, Lynn Newton (Mark), Patricia Emery; Amy Young; sisters, Rhonda Cook, Debbie Cook, Connie Moser; 6 grandchildren, Alex (Kendra), Whitney (Scott), Sydney (Celeste), Haley (Josh), Marena (Andrew), Jamie Young; 7 great grandchildren, Jaxon, Emmett, Delilah, Greyson, Jade, Easton, Presley; and a close family friend, Cathy Spalding.
Cremation was chosen and entrusted with Legacy Funeral Center, 921 Main Street, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130.
There will be a Celebration of Life held for Marlayn Emery & son Will Emery, who passed on April 20, 2024 on Saturday, June 15, 2024 from 2-4pm at Main Cross Independent Baptist Church, 145 Main Cross Street, Charlestown, Indiana 47111.
