Marion James Stamper Jr., fondly known as Jim, passed away on July 21, 2024, at the University of Louisville Hospital. Born in Christiansburg, VA on March 20, 1947, Jim was the son of the late Marion James and Margaret Marie Allred Stamper.
Jim's life was a testament to hard work and creativity. He spent most of his career in construction, where his skills in welding and fabricating shone brightly. There was nothing he couldn't fix or create, often surprising his family with whimsical inventions and practical solutions.
An Air Force veteran, Jim served his country proudly. His love for animals was boundless, particularly his special care for the neighborhood squirrels, who likely knew him as their personal gourmet chef.
Those who knew Jim best remember him for his youthful spirit. Despite his 77 years, he never quite outgrew his penchant for goofing off and acting like a perpetual kid. His infectious laughter and playful nature brought joy to all who crossed his path.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Brenda Timbrook; his children: Jessica Collins (David), Tony Maye, Toby Stamper, Shelly Stamper, Jeffrey Stamper (Tabby); sixteen grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren.
Cremation was chosen as per his wishes, and the Legacy Funeral Center-Scott Chapel has been entrusted with his care.
In memory of Jim's life, his family invites friends and loved ones to share their memories and condolences at www.legacykentuckiana.com. Though he may be gone, Jim's spirit lives on in the laughter and love he shared with all who knew him.
