Margaret Frances Hume Obituary
Margaret Frances Hume, 84, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 6, 2026.
Born on February 23, 1942, in Louisville, Kentucky, Margaret was the beloved daughter of the late Clarence and Margaret Demaree.
Margaret devoted her life to caring for others. She was the kind of person who made everyone feel like family and became "Granny" to more people than could ever be counted. She worried about everyone she loved, yet always managed to greet the world with a smile. Her children were the center of her life, and she worked tirelessly to raise and care for them, providing them with unconditional love, strength, and guidance.
Margaret found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved playing bingo, trying her luck with scratch-off tickets, and could often be found shopping at thrift stores, always convinced that paying full price was unnecessary when a bargain could be found. She firmly believed that duct tape could fix just about anything. Even during her hospital stay, Margaret was rarely without her tablet, happily playing games and keeping herself entertained. She also shared a special bond with her beloved furry best friend, Max.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Mark Hume, Robin Hume (Jerry Mannen), Robert Hume, and Jenny Hume (Brad); her grandchildren, Kelly Wendling (Brian), Sarah Singleton (Jason), Shannon Hume (TJ), Amanda Hume, Laura Hume, Jerry "Doey" Hume (Hayley), David Schott II (Courtnie), Timothy Schott, and Marc Schott; her great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Wendling, Emily Singleton, Garrett Hume, Lilyann Badgett, Zachary Wendling, Hayley Hume, Alexis, Brooklyn, Ryan, Bentley, and Kashton; a soon-to-be-born great-great-granddaughter; her brother, Clarence "Bud" Demaree; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Susan Schott; her siblings, Betty Siroki (Gene), Mary Rogers (Paul), and Susie Ferguson (Fly); her sister-in-law, Arlene Demaree; and her cherished furry companion, Max.
Margaret's legacy is one of unconditional love, generosity, resilience, and laughter. She taught her family the importance of caring for one another, finding joy in everyday moments, stretching every dollar, and facing life's challenges with determination and a smile. Her love will continue to live on through the generations she nurtured and inspired.
