With deep sorrow and grateful hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Luanna “Poosie” Beecher, who departed this life on August 30, 2026, at the age of 68.

Luanna was a remarkable woman whose presence brought warmth, strength, laughter, and love to everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was the matriarch of her family, a woman who cherished her loved ones deeply and took great pride in the family she nurtured and held together.

She had a beautiful appreciation for the simple joys of life. She was an avid reader, with the thrilling works of Stephen King and Dean Koontz among her favorites. She loved getting lost in the pages of a good book, allowing her imagination to carry her into another world. She was also a wonderful cook, and the meals she prepared were more than food—they were expressions of love. Her kitchen was a place where family gathered, memories were made, and love was served generously. And, of course, no one who knew Luanna could forget her special love for Neapolitan ice cream.

Luanna proudly retired from the Gary, Indiana Public School System, where she served as a head custodian. Through her work, she demonstrated the same qualities that defined her life: dedication, responsibility, perseverance, and care for others.

Above all else, Luanna loved her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were among the greatest joys of her life. She treasured every moment with them and leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through the generations. Though her chair at the family table may now be empty, the wisdom she shared, the meals she prepared, the stories she told, and the love she gave will remain forever in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Luanna is lovingly remembered by her children, Denise Williams and Adam Beecher (Hope Shampo); her grandchildren, Dashawn Williams and Jacqueline Mitchell; and her great-grandchildren, Kylee Williams and Kinslee Williams. She is also survived by her beloved siblings, Alma-nisa Scott, Walter Davis, Larry Davis, John Brown, Wayne Scott, and Roy Scott, along with extended family members, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by her generous spirit.

Luanna was preceded in death by the love of her life, Terry Wiley, her beloved parents, John and Henrietta Williams and her siblings Connie Brown, Carl Williams and Tracie Brown.

Although our hearts are heavy with her passing, we find comfort in knowing that Luanna’s life was filled with love, family, purpose, and countless memories that will never fade. She leaves behind not only the people who loved her, but a legacy that will continue through every generation that follows.
