Lori Lynn Benson, age 53 of Louisville, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, leaving behind a legacy stitched together with kindness, laughter, and unwavering love.
A proud graduate of New Albany High School, Lori dedicated much of her life to caring for others. Whether working in health care or child care, she had a special gift for making people feel safe, seen, and valued. Her loving kindness and warm disposition drew people in, but it was her “tell it straight up” honesty that made her truly unforgettable. Lori didn’t sugarcoat the truth — she delivered it with heart, humor, and the best of intentions. Those under her care knew they were loved fiercely and genuinely.
At home, Lori found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She could often be found jamming to her favorite country songs, singing at the top of her lungs — especially to “Strawberry Wine,” which she claimed as one of her all-time favorites. She enjoyed scrolling through YouTube, keeping up with Facebook happenings, and watching TikToks that brought on the kind of belly laughs that echoed through the house. In between, she might be looking up her next crochet tip, already dreaming up her next handmade treasure. Crocheting wasn’t just a hobby for Lori — it was an expression of her heart. She was incredibly gifted, always working on something special for someone she loved. Every stitch was made with care, devotion, and intention. Blankets, scarves, and thoughtful handmade gifts will forever serve as tangible reminders of the love she wove into the lives of others.
Lori also shared her love through food. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and welcome, filled with the sweet smells of her famous dump cake, homemade muffins, and peanut butter cookies. If you were within eyesight, you were likely leaving with a full plate and a happy heart.
She was preceded in death by her father, Duffy Curry, and her loving husband, Jeffrey Benson. Though she endured great loss, she continued to pour love into those around her with strength and grace.
Lori will be deeply mourned by her devoted mother, Yvonne (Hollkamp) Curry; her beloved daughter, Cortney Benson; her sons, Brandin Benson, Jacob Hunton & Joseph Logsdon; her treasured grandson, Jailen Benson Taylor; and her lifelong friends who never left her side, Shauna Curry-Williams, Dawn Freiberger-McGrath and Billie Bell. Their memories together — filled with laughter, music, shared meals, and late-night talks — will remain a comfort in the days ahead.
A celebration of Lori’s life will be held at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at Legacy Funeral Center, Scott Chapel (921 Main Street, Jeffersonville). Friends may visit from 4:00 PM until the time of service on Tuesday.
Though her voice may be quiet now, somewhere “Strawberry Wine” is still playing — and those who knew Lori can almost hear her singing along, smiling, and reminding us all to love big, laugh loud, and never miss a chance to give from the heart.
