Letcher Morgan, age 76, passed away on April 21, 2026, following a sudden illness, leaving behind a legacy of devotion, humor, and unwavering conviction.
Affectionately known as “Pappy” to those who loved him most, Letcher was a man who lived life with passion and authenticity. He never shied away from sharing his opinions, proudly standing as a lifelong Democrat and rarely missing a chance to engage in spirited debates or voice his thoughts at the television when politics stirred his heart. His voice, strong and familiar, will be deeply missed in the conversations he so loved.
Letcher dedicated more than 40 years of his life as a mechanical engineer with the Hyatt Regency of Louisville, where his work ethic and skill left a lasting impression. Outside of his career, he found his greatest peace by the water, fishing or simply talking about fishing with anyone willing to listen. Those moments, filled with stories and laughter, were among his favorites.
Above all, Letcher cherished his family. His role as “Pappy” was one he held closest to his heart, especially the treasured time spent with his great-grandson during their Saturday and Sunday morning McDonald’s pancake rituals. Those simple traditions became lifelong memories for those fortunate enough to share them.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn Sue Morgan; his sons, Letcher Ray Morgan and David Morgan; and his brother, Lathey Morgan Jr.
Letcher is survived by his grandchildren, Danielle McCowan, Gina McCowan, Shelby Morgan, Amber Morgan, Bubby Morgan, Kayla Gibson, and Scott Morgan; his great-grandchildren, Hayleigh Whobrey, Sully McCowan, Carys Withrow, Sylvanus Withrow, Kerrigan Rodriques, Kayden Gibson, and Mariella Marie Dorton; his brother, Joe Morgan (Bonita); his daughter-in-law, Tammy McCowan; along with many nieces and nephews who will continue to carry his memory forward.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2026, at Legacy Funeral Center, 921 Main Street in Jeffersonville. Funeral services celebrating Letcher’s life will begin at 1:00 p.m., with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
