Lawrence Ray Spurgeon

Lawrence Ray Spurgeon, 59, passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born on September 17, 1961 to Helen Spurgeon and Lawrence Ray Marcum in Louisville, Kentucky.  Lawrence was a caring man who would help anyone in need. He liked talking to people and never met a stranger.  Lawrence loved taking care of his wife and family.  In his spare time, he could be found cheering on his UK Wildcats and enjoying an ice cold beverage.  Lawrence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Helen Spurgeon and Lawrence Marcum; Lawrence was preceded in death by his loving wife, JoAnn Spurgeon; 1 sister, Brenda Stotts; and 1 sister in law, Dee Spurgeon.

Left to cherish his memory, Lawrence leaves behind 3 children, Wanda Wilson, Chastity Hatcher, and Dougy Hatcher (Lisa); 2 siblings, Lissy Bolding (Charles), and William Spurgeon; 3 grandchildren, Marissa Mudd, Ashley Patton, and Austin Patton; 1 great granddaughter, Mariann Mudd-McClish; 1 brother in law, Darryl Stotts; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A funeral service for Mr. Lawrence Ray Spurgeon will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Legacy Funeral Center – Nunnelley Chapel, 4327 Taylor Blvd., Louisville, KY 40215.  Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 2 PM, prior to the service.
