Kevin Wayne Nelson passed peacefully in his sleep on Saturday March 7th, 2026.
He was preceded in death by his Uncle, Raymond Baker; Grandparents: Jean and George Baker; Cousin, Trevor Baker, and Parents Larry and Ruth Ann (Baker) Nelson. Also, by his faithful companion and beloved Baby Boy, what a beautiful reunion that must have been!
Kevin was a United States Army Veteran and served his country with pride. He was a welder by trade and a craftsman at heart. He worked at Jeff Boat for many years where his strong hands and sharp eye helped shape steel into something lasting.
Kevin was happiest when he could help others. He enjoyed working in his shop and around his home creating and designing ornamental iron plant hangers or just fixing things. Kevin touched many lives over the years and many people loved him. He was a big-hearted man who extended kindness to everyone he met. He genuinely wanted people around him to be happy and enjoy life. His kindness, humor and generosity will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Kevin leaves to cherish his memory his sisters: Hope Mang (Danny) and Ruth Nelson (Wayne); his brother, Ozzie Nelson (Diane); his nephews, Lawrence and Jay; his niece, Natali, and grand-nieces, Elayna and Avaeyuh. As well as his Aunt Georgetta, Uncle Richard (Sherri) and cousins, Trent and Erica, Emery and Aiden.
Kevin’s life reminds us that sometimes the strongest people are the ones who quietly build things- whether it is ironwork in a shop, friendships in a neighborhood or a lifetime of love shared with the people around them. And those are the kinds of things that last forever.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 2:00pm on Saturday, March 21st , 2026 at Legacy Funeral Center, Scott Chapel (921 Main Street in Jeffersonville).
