Kenneth L. “Boom Boom” Bailey, age 67 of Jeffersonville, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and a deep appreciation for life’s simple joys.
Born to the late Gowdy Lee and Cora Ellen (Hazel) Bailey, Kenneth dedicated many years of his life working as a security officer, a role that reflected his steady presence and watchful care for others. But beyond his work, it was his love for the outdoors that truly defined him. He found peace in nature—whether camping, fishing, or simply sitting quietly and reflecting on cherished memories from his younger days. To Kenneth, the beauty of God’s creation was something to be treasured and respected.
Affectionately known as “Boom Boom,” he had a personality that left a lasting impression. He had a special fondness for trains, collecting train sets over the years and finding joy in every passing locomotive—even when it stopped traffic, something that only seemed to delight him more. He loved the classics, often enjoying episodes of The Dick Van Dyke Show and The Andy Griffith Show, and he never passed up a chance to turn up his favorite Gospel and R&B music, jamming as loudly as possible! Kenneth was also a devoted sports fan, always cheering on his teams, especially his beloved Green Bay Packers. His enthusiasm was contagious, and his spirited support brought joy to those around him. A man of faith, Kenneth was baptized at St. Augustine Catholic Church, carrying that faith with him throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael, Gerald, and Indiana State Trooper Steven Bailey, as well as his dear nephew, Tony Bailey.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving sisters, Sandra A. Bailey and Kimberly Buchanan; his daughters, Marlina Beasley (Lewis) and La’Toya Bailey; a son, Shawn Bailey; and his treasured grandchildren, Lewis Jr, Mathias’, Alias’, Evangeline, King, Shawn Jr., Ja’Vair, Dallas & Lanxton. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Rita Bailey; nephews, Michael Jr. (Laura) Bailey and William Buchanan II; nieces, Monique Bailey, Tomica Moore, and Kalicia Buchanan; along with several great-nieces and great-nephews. Kenneth’s life was further enriched by the unwavering companionship of his “ride-or-die” lifelong friends—Tommy Crenshaw, Rodney Embry, and Derrick Blair—who stood by his side through it all. And of course, his loyal canine companion, Luna, who faithfully followed him outdoors and kept him company on the porch for hours, will surely feel his absence. Kenneth will be remembered for his easygoing spirit, his love of laughter, and the way he found joy in the little things. His presence brought comfort, his stories brought smiles, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Donald Bell, Rodney Embry, Derrick Blair, Tommy Crenshaw, Hunter Moore, Shawn Bailey, Spencer Moore & Kenneth Moore.
He will be deeply missed, but fondly remembered always.
