Thursday, October 20, 1960 a strong, beautiful soul was born. Wednesday, November 26, 2025 (age 65) Kathy’s spirit was set free as she gained her heavenly wings.
Kathy was a classy lady with a wonderful sense of humor. She was full of sass with never a dull moment and enjoyed laughter most of all. Kathy was a gifted, spiritual soul. She was the definition of strength and a true inspiration to all who knew and love her. Fear was never an adversity. She believed that what’s meant to be will come and that nothing could hold her back.
Her presence would brighten a room. People were drawn to her light. Genuine to all, her best qualities rubbed off on everyone who crossed her path. Her talents were making others smile, telling it like it is, and showing up when no one else was there. Kathy loved her family and friends with her whole heart and let nothing stand in the way of it. Her nurturing and caring ways extended to all she embraced as family.
Her children say, “She was the best mother anyone could ask for. Doesn’t matter what we did, she always had our back and loved us through all of our flaws.”
Kathy spent her working years with Dobbs Bakery and UPS before retiring from ACBL, where she served as a dispatcher for 25 years. She knew the barge lines inside and out. Even through the phone lines, she made a special connection with those with whom she worked.
Her grandchildren were Kathy’s pride and joy. She loved listening to their stories. They brightened her later years and filled her heart.
Kathy adored and spoiled her pets, especially her beloved Tripper who arrived in Heaven just two days before her. Kathy was connected to nature and saw beauty even in the little things that life had to offer, such as four-leaf clovers, windchimes, and dragonflies! She loved to reminisce of past adventures–trips to the beach and walking miles in the sand, car rides and great music with others as long as she was the one driving. Kathy lived in the moment and cherished every memory.
Kathy is survived by her loving family: husband of 22 years, Terry Wayne Webster; mother, Carole Yvonne (Oakes) Raney Watson; daughter, Sarah Ann Poole; son, Stiles Patrick Poole; step-son, Tony Oliver Webster; and grandchildren: Braxton Joseph James Poole and Lilly Ann Grace Ferree, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends she loves dearly.
Greeting her in heaven were her father, James Thomas Raney II, and brother, James Thomas Raney III. Katherine Ann is now at peace with Jesus and rejoicing with the heavenly angels who were with her throughout her life’s journey and saw her home.
“Never goodbye, See ya later.”
Kathy’s Celebration of Life will be held 5PM Saturday, March 14th 2026 in the Sanctuary of St. Luke's United Church of Christ, followed with Fellowship in Watson Hall.
