Judith Catherine “Judy” Keith, age 85 of passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2026, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of faith, family, kindness, and love.  Born to the late Henry and Nora Lea (Kaelin) Stoffregen, Judy was a 1959 graduate of Charlestown High School and attended Spencerian Business School. She began a dedicated career as a secretary for Martin Transportation before retiring from Southern Revere. But retirement was not the end of Judy’s working days—it was the beginning of what she called her dream job.  Judy became the official “Baby Rocker” at Southside Christian Daycare, a title she cherished with all her heart. There was simply no place she would rather be than with a baby in her arms.

Judy was a devout Catholic and a faithful member of Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Jeffersonville for over fifty years.  She willingly gave her time and talents to the church through several committees, always looking for another way to help. She worked with RCIA, helping welcome more people into the Catholic faith, and served as a church greeter. With her warm eyes and bright smile, Judy had a special gift for making everyone feel welcome. She didn't simply greet people at the door—she showed them the love of Jesus.  Judy also had a gift for making people feel loved around her kitchen table. She was a talented cook, famous for her fried chicken, and would lovingly prepare anything her family requested—whether it was a pound of bacon, homemade dumplings, or a special treat to satisfy her sweet tooth.

She loved watching and feeding the birds and had a special place in her heart for dogs of every kind, especially her beloved Roscoe. She loved playing cards, laughing with friends, and sharing good times, but above everything else, Judy adored her family.  Her greatest treasures were the people she loved. She especially cherished having her granddaughters sitting in her lap, surrounded by the laughter, stories, and love that filled her home. Her family will forever remember the warmth of her embrace, the brightness of her smile, the sound of her laughter, and the countless ways she made ordinary moments feel special.

Judy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Junior Keith; and her sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Carroll Schaefer.  She leaves behind her loving daughter, Nora (Scott) Abbott of Marysville; beloved son, Jonathan Keith of Jeffersonville; sister, SR Mary Ann Stoffregen of Odenburg; brothers, Victor (Judy) Stoffregen of Salem and David (Vicki) Stoffregen of Charlestown; loving granddaughters, Brooke (Dane) Hardebeck and Baylee Abbott (Kegan); and her precious new great-granddaughter, Halen Jane Gentry. She also leaves countless friends, fellow parishioners, and little ones whose lives were made sweeter simply because Judy loved them.

Judy's life was a beautiful example of what it means to love generously, serve faithfully, and welcome others with an open heart. She found joy in the simplest gifts—a baby asleep in her arms, a family gathered around her table, a dog at her feet, birds at the feeder, a hand of cards with friends, and a handful of peanut M&M’s.

As we remember Judy, let us carry her greatest lesson with us: love one another and be Jesus to those around you. If we walk with the same grace, kindness, faith, and joy that Judy did, her light will continue to shine through all of us.  And perhaps, when we need a little hope, we can remember the words Judy carried in her heart: “God doesn't close a door without opening a window.” 

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church (1840 E. 8th Street, Jeffersonville, IN 47130).

Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Legacy Funeral Center – Scott Chapel (921 Main Street, Jeffersonville).
