Joseph Wayne Riggs, affectionately known as "KO" (Knock Out), passed away on July 11, 2026, at the age of 45. Though his time with those who loved him came to an end far too soon, the memories he created and the laughter he shared will live on forever.

Joseph was born in December 25, 1980, to the late Harold Burkhead and Joyce Decker. He was also preceded in death by his beloved grandparents and his brother, Tom Decker.

Joseph's greatest joy in life was his family. He would do anything for the people he loved, always putting others before himself and making sure those around him knew they were cared for. His goofy personality, quick wit, and love of joking around made him the kind of person who could brighten any room. Whether he was teasing someone with a smile or making everyone laugh, Joseph had a gift for bringing happiness to others.

Known by many as "KO," Joseph was proud of his nickname and often reminded everyone that he was "studding like his daddy," a phrase that never failed to make those around him smile. His larger-than-life personality and unforgettable sense of humor will be deeply missed.

Joseph enjoyed listening to music and was an avid sports fan. He especially loved basketball and faithfully cheered for his favorite player, Luka Dončić, as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. Whether enjoying a game, listening to his favorite songs, or spending time with family, Joseph found joy in life's simple moments.

Left to cherish his memory are his dear friend, Kimberly Wells; his children, Brandi Wells, Destiny Dewitt, Kasey Wells, Ralenn Cecil, Jake Cecil, Derrick Whitener, and Destany Madison; his beloved grandchildren; his sisters, Vicky Hurst and Deanna Decker; along with many extended family members and friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Joseph's life during visitation on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Legacy Funeral Center – Nunnelley Chapel, 4327 Taylor Boulevard, Louisville, Kentucky 40215. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In accordance with Joseph's wishes, the family has chosen cremation following the service.

Although Joseph's earthly journey has ended, his love, laughter, generous spirit, and unwavering devotion to his family will remain an enduring legacy. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
