Joseph Martin Obituary

Joseph "Joe" C. Martin  , 70, of Jeffersonville,  Indiana passed on March 12, 2024 at his home surrounded by family. He was born October 7, 1953 in Frankfort Kentucky, the son of William J. Martin and Patsy Conway Martin.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Fitzgerald- Martin,

 His son Beau Martin, Versailles KY,

 his daughter, Bailey Martin, Atlanta GA,

 his step daughter, Bridget Fitzgerald, Jeffersonville, In, 

 his sister, Liz Harmon (Harold), Danville, KY

 3 grandchildren, Annabelle, Nash and Jacob Raisor, Versailles, Ky

 Nephew J.J. Martin (Sara), Versailles, KY

 Friend and former spouse Bev Mullins &

 Special Friend Phillip Sutton both of Versailles, KY

 and numerous inlaws and outlaws

He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Danielle Raisor, and brother Mike Martin. 

Joe retired from the Railroad as a Terminal Supervisor after spending 25 years with Norfolk Southern and 5 years with R.J. Corman. He was also proud of the fact that he worked for the FBI under  J. Edgar Hoover in Washington D.C., recruited right after high school. 

Joe was a 1971 graduate of Boyle Co. High School where he excelled in athletics especially Football, where he held records until the late 1990's. As a youth in Versailles Kentucky, on the Babe Ruth Little League Baseball team,he pitched the first ever Perfect Game in Woodford Co. He  led his team to the State Championship Title in their division, having a record of 15-0. 

Joe was very active in his community, volunteering with the Woodford Co, Rec Dept as both a coach, referee and umpire. He was also known to call a few games for the Woodford Co. High School Girls  Fast Pitch Team. He gave his time at the Methodist Home, Woodford Christian Church, and Southland Christian Church. 

He loved Motorcycles, Guitars, UK Basketball, Golf , Ray Bans, watches, Baseball caps, and chewing gum. More than anything else in this world, he loved, adored, and was proud of his children.

He was a generous person who never met a stranger and was a loyal friend going out of his way to help when he could. All those who knew him would point out his extraordinary sense of humor, his quick wit, and his extreme intelligence.  The motto he lived by was that he hoped that everyone he met, he could make their day a little bit better.   

All who knew him will miss him greatly.

There will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date.
