John "Scott" Woods

John “Scott” Woods, 62, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on March 31, 2026, in his hometown.

Scott was born on March 9, 1964, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Dorothy and Carlos Woods, Jr. A lifelong resident of the city he loved, Scott built a life centered around family, friendship, and the simple joys that brought people together.

He dedicated 25 years of service to Ford, where he took great pride in his work and his love for Ford trucks. Outside of work, Scott was known as the life of the party—his presence was unmistakable, and his energy and laughter left lasting impressions on everyone he met. He had a deep love for horseracing and cherished time spent at Churchill Downs, cheering on his favorites. A devoted University of Louisville fan, Scott rarely missed an opportunity to support his team. He also found peace in fishing and enjoyed playing his acoustic guitar.

Scott will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, his love for his family, and his ability to bring joy to any gathering.

He is survived by his sons, Christopher Woods (Kimberly) and Eric Woods (Elizabeth); his beloved grandchildren, Kian, Luna, Emery, and a soon-to-be-born grandson; his siblings, Cindy Lewallen, Kimberly Sue Woods, Charlie Woods, and Christopher Paul Woods; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He is also fondly remembered by his wonderful caregivers, including Ashley Lewallen and John Young.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Carlos Woods, Jr.; his wife, Diana “Lane” Woods; his daughter, Nikki Woods; and his sister, Antonia Lynn Woods.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 9, from 12 PM to 8 PM at Legacy Funeral Center – Nunnelley Chapel, 4327 Taylor Boulevard, Louisville, Kentucky 40215. A second visitation will take place on Friday, April 10, from 11 AM to 1 PM, with a funeral service to follow at 1 PM at the funeral home.

Scott’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
