John Gregory Stroud, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024.
John dedicated his life to inspiring others through his role as the longtime art teacher at Silvercreek High School. For decades, he shared his passion for the arts, especially painting, leaving an indelible mark on generations of students who will carry his creative spirit forward.
John had a deep curiosity for the wonders of the universe, a love for technology that kept him exploring new horizons, and a special fondness for Disney vacations with his family, beach excursions, and trips out west —magical moments that brought them closer together.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Matilda Stroud and his former wife, Linda.
He will be dearly missed by his daughters, Kelly Watson (Jimmy) and Johnna Massie (Ron); his grandchildren, Karston Bradshaw (Peyton), Caden Watson, Tyler Massie (Annie), and Nathan Massie; and his sister, Norma Allen (Larry). John’s legacy of love, creativity, and curiosity will live on in their hearts.
A memorial visitation to celebrate John’s life will be held from 12-4 p.m. on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Legacy Funeral Center, 921 Main Street, Jeffersonville. A funeral service will immediately follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
John’s family invites those who knew and loved him to come together, share memories, and honor a life lived with kindness, imagination, and a dedication to making the world a more beautiful place.
