John Edward Smith I

John E. Smith I, 86, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021. He was born on May 17, 1935 to the late Edward and Lula Smith in Louisville, Kentucky.  John retired from P. Lorillard Tobacco Company. 

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, Edward Ray Ladner.

Left to cherish his memory, John leaves behind an ex-wife, Diana Smith; children, Raven “Becky” Smith, Timmy Smith Sr., Bonnie Lavender (Richard), Virgil Smith Sr., Crystal Combs (Calloway) and Tonya Nagle (Chris); 18 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

A Funeral Ceremony for Mr. John E. Smith I will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 1 PM at Legacy Funeral Center - Schoppenhorst Chapel, 1832 W. Market Street, Louisville, KY 40203.  Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 1 PM at the funeral home, prior to the service.
