John Oliver Lindle, 88, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home on April 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on November 30, 1936, in Louisville, Kentucky, John was the son of James and Dorothy Lindle. He led a full and dedicated life, retiring after more than 30 years of service at Stewart Dry Goods. Later in life, he spent several years working at Target Store before enjoying his well-earned retirement.
A faithful member of First Baptist Church, John served the church with great dedication as both a deacon and trustee, contributing to his community and church family for many years.
John had many passions, including his love for dining out, with Applebee’s being one of his all-time favorite spots. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, tending to his yard with care. His warm heart and generous spirit were felt by all who knew him, especially during social gatherings where he could often be found sharing a cold drink and a good laugh with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Lindle; his son, Johnny Lindle; brother, Jay Lindle; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Distler. He is survived by his daughters, Beth Morton, Debbie Laney(Jim), Susan Rowe, Karen Lindle(Brian); sons, Steve Lindle(Leslie); ,Timothy “Tim” Distler(Jennifer), Anthony “Tony” Distler(Julie); along with 22 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
There will be a visitation held on Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 5-8pm at legacy Funeral Center, 921 Main Street, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130. Service will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025 at 12pm with more visitation before from 10-12pm at Legacy Funeral Center.
