Jimmy "Buddy" Dale Wright, Jr.

Jimmy "Buddy" Dale Wright, Jr., 55, passed away suddenly on Friday, February 14, 2025. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, to Jimmy Dale Wright Sr. and the late Darlene Corley Wright, Buddy was a man of many talents, a steadfast presence, and a true friend to all who knew him.

Dependable beyond measure, Buddy was always willing to lend a helping hand—whether as a skilled handyman, a dedicated landscaper, or a caring friend. His work as a gravedigger was more than just a job; it was a calling, ensuring that each person he served was given a dignified and respectful farewell.

Buddy had a heart as vast as his talents, and he poured his love into his family, friends, and community. He was an avid University of Kentucky fan, proudly cheering on the Wildcats through every season. But above all, he was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and son, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones.

He is survived by his father, Jimmy Wright Sr. (Nancy); his siblings, Lisa Blair (Mike) and Steven Wright (Kristen); his children, Jimmy Dale "JD" Wright III, Bradley Wright, Damian Wright (Charlie Doyle), Alexis Wright, Brennan Wright, Summer Wright, and Jordan Wright; mother to his children, Dena Wright; step-children, Mandy Rosales, Danny Wilbert, Santana Moore, and Ashley Wilbert; along with 12 grandchildren and ten nieces and nephews who adored him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Darlene Wright; his paternal grandparents, Elmer and Louise Wright; his maternal grandparents, Oscar and Dorothy Corley; his grandchild, Lamais Wright; and his niece, Britnee Blair.

Buddy's life will be honored with visitation from 1-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Legacy Funeral Center - Schoppenhorst Chapel, 1832 W Market Street. A funeral service celebrating his life will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025, at the funeral home, with burial to follow.

Though his time here was far too short, Buddy’s kindness, hard work, and unwavering love for his family will forever be remembered. His spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
