James “Jim” Richard Eddy, 75, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on November 7, 2025, at Norton Clark Hospital.
Jim was born on July 22, 1950, and lived a life full of love, laughter, and compassion. He had a special place in his heart for The Special Olympics, where he joyfully participated in many events throughout the years. His enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and smile touched the lives of everyone he met.
Jim loved the simple pleasures of life—playing pool with friends, spending quiet days fishing, and cheering on his favorite wrestlers, whether on TV or at live events. He was happiest when surrounded by his family, sharing good food, laughter, and stories.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Alice Eddy; his loving children, Anthony Eddy (Melissa), Douglas Eddy, Tammy Eddy, and Joseph Eddy; his sister, Phoebe Curry; grandchildren, Alex Eddy, J.R. Eddy and Amy Eddy; and great-grandchild, Amira Eddy, who brought endless joy to his days.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Laura, brother, Larry Smith, his brother-in-law, Delbert Curry and sister in law, Marie Smith.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Catholic Charities and all of the wonderful caregivers who supported Jim throughout his life—especially Lisa Ponce, whose care and compassion meant so much.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Legacy Funeral Chapel, 921 Main Street, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m., with burial at Eastern Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made toward funeral expenses to Scott Funeral Home at 812-283-8161.
Jim will be remembered for his kindness, his love of life, and the joy he brought to everyone around him. His spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
