James Edward Keown, Sr., age 88, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky.
Born on July 4, 1937, in Louisville, James was the son of the late James and Martha Keown. He dedicated over 30 years of service as a maintenance technician at the Masonic Home, where he was known for his reliability, quiet strength, and unwavering work ethic.
James took great pride in his collection of American Indian statues, a personal passion that reflected his appreciation for history and craftsmanship. He also had a great love and appreciation of music. His hobbies and interests were matched only by his love for family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Bobby and Vernon and his sisters, Francis, Cricket, Mary and Louis.
James is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Goff Keown; his children, James Keown, Jr., Theresa Hawkins, Terry Keown, and Martha “Martie” Keown; his sister, Shirley; as well as several cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
In accordance with his wishes, the family has chosen direct cremation. No formal services are planned at this time.
