Jacqueline Faye Wright, 86, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, surrounded by love. She was born on November 4, 1939, in Owensboro, Kentucky, to the late Juanita Beachamp Lanham and Wilson Griffin.
Jacqueline was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life centered around family, compassion, and care for others. She is survived by her children, Rory “Tony” Wright (Sonja) and Kim Johnson; her beloved grandchildren, Lauren Wright, Dylan Wright, Nicholas Wright, Corey Johnson, Justin Johnson, Joshua “Andrew” Johnson, and Jeremy Johnson; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Destiny Johnson and LyDia Johnson. She is also survived by her siblings, Carlotta Allen, Rachael Hampton, and Glen Wayne Roby.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Beachamp Lanham; her father, Wilson Griffin; the father of her children, Roy Wright; her loving companion, Bobby Watson; her son-in-law, Matt Johnson; and her siblings, Adrian Griffin, Wilson Griffin, Raymond “Bugsy” Lanham, Jr., and Elizabeth “Liz” Dickerson.
Jacqueline had a gentle soul and a generous heart. She was a devoted animal lover, especially fond of cats, and was well known for caring for neighborhood strays as if they were her own. She found joy and peace in gardening and took immense pride in nurturing both her plants and her family. Above all, she deeply loved her grandchildren and treasured every moment spent with them.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 15, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Legacy Funeral Center – Schoppenhorst Chapel, located at 1832 West Market Street. A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 p.m.
Jacqueline’s kindness, warmth, and quiet strength will be remembered always by those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
