Jackie “Jack” Lee Long, 78, of French Lick, Indiana, passed away on January 4, 2022. There will be a visitation held at Legacy Funeral Center, 921 Main Street, Jeffersonville, Indiana, on Monday, January 10, 2022, from 11:00AM – 4:00PM with service to follow at 4:00PM.
Jack was born on November 22, 1943 to Fred & Hazel Long and was raised alongside one sibling. He attended Springs Valley High School in French Lick and achieved his GED while serving in the Navy. Jack proudly served in the Navy during the Vietnam War as a minesweeper and was honorably discharged. He was previously married to Mary Ann Price and together they raised 6 children.
Jack was employed with Clariant, Specialty Chemical Company (formerly United Catalyst); he retired after 30 years and then drove semi-trucks. In his free time, Jack could be found enjoying fishing, boating, and golfing. He was a member of the American Legion 204, the Token Club and often donated his time to troubled peers. Jack was a member of Southeast Christian Church, Indiana Campus.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Douglas Max Long; and his previous partners, Linda Long & Sue Long. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, Tammy (Bob) Hogan, Cassandra (Larry) Wallis, Jeff (Missy) Long, Gail (Tony) Scott, Sherrie (Jim) Lewis, & Terrie Long; his 14 grandchildren; his 10 great-grandchildren; and his step-son of which he was granted guardianship, Travis Still, as well as many other family members and friends who will all miss him dearly.
