Henry Floyd Hogan, Jr. 98 years old, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2021 at the Sam Swope Center at Masonic Home in Louisville. He will be reunited with his wife of 56 years, Inez, who passed in 2000. He was proceeded in death by his mother and father, Henry Floyd Hogan, Sr. and Daisy Hogan; his sisters Lavada Reynolds, Louise Bishop, and Geneva Coomer; and infant brother, Gordon Hogan.
Henry was a proud World War II veteran who served in the Pacific Theatre with the 1884th Engineer Aviation Battalion of the Army Air Force. After returning from the war, he began working for American Air Filter on Central Avenue, where he worked for 45 years.
Henry was a 65 year member of Highland Park Masonic Lodge 865 and faithful worker at the Highland Park Lodge Saturday Fish Fries. He was also a long time member of Jones Memorial Methodist Church while living in Highland Park and after the Airport Relocation in the late 1980’s, Epiphany United Methodist Church.
Henry loved his family. He is survived by two sons, Randall (June) and Scott (Kathy); three grandchildren, Andrew Hogan (Tara Clayton), Brandon Hogan (Holly), and Katelyn Fox (Drew); three great-grandchildren, Harper Hogan, Henry “Hank” Hogan, and Joseph Fox.
The family would like to thank the staff of Audubon Hospital and Walter’s House at the Sam Swope Center, Masonic Home for their care of Henry these past few weeks.
Funeral arrangements will be handled by Legacy Funeral Center-Nunnelley Chapel, 4327 Taylor Blvd. in Louisville. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 2:00 PM-6:00 PM, with a Masonic Service at 6:00 PM. The funeral service for Mr. Henry F. Hogan Jr. will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at the funeral home, with visitation at 10 AM, prior to the service. Burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens West following the service.
