Gary Wayne Hardin, 61, fondly known as "GiGi," passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, in Louisville, KY. He was born on September 19, 1962, to the late James Hartford and Bertha Mae Hardin, in the same city that he would call home throughout his remarkable life. Gary's vibrant spirit and outspoken nature earned him the endearing nickname "GiGi." His feisty personality was a testament to his unwavering authenticity and straightforward approach to life. Gary's outgoing demeanor was complemented by a great sense of humor that could brighten even the gloomiest days. In his leisure moments, Gary found solace in the simple pleasures of life. A lover of country music, he could often be found tapping his feet to the rhythm of his favorite tunes. His love for the wild west was evident in his enjoyment of western movies, and his passion for wrestling and his UK Wildcats, added an element of excitement to his leisure hours. Family was at the core of Gary's being, and he cherished every moment spent with those he held dear. His faithful companion, Lady Bug, shared in these cherished moments, providing him with unconditional love and companionship. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, James and Bertha Mae Hardin, Gary is preceded in death by 8 siblings, Brenda Mae Williams, James Hardin Jr., Carolyn Ann Price, Margaret Helm, Robert Lee Hardin, David Eugene Hardin, John Wesley Hardin, and Hartford Ray Hardin.
Left to cherish his memory, Gary leaves behind 5 siblings, William Lesley Hardin, Minnie Helm, Donald Gene Hardin, Michael Louis Hardin, and Terry Hardin Herron; cousin and caregiver, Bill "Tinky" Malone (Carolyn); many loving cousins, nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and close friends.
A funeral service for Mr. Gary Wayne Hardin will be held at 7 PM on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Legacy Funeral Center - Schoppenhorst Chapel, 1832 W. Market Street, Louisville, KY. Visitation will be held from 3 PM to 7 PM at the funeral home, prior to the service.
