Franklin Wayne Simpson, age 67, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on March 4, 2025. He was born on September 1, 1957, to the late Franklin R. Gill and Mary Magdalene Gill.
Franklin worked as a factory worker for many years and was known for his love of sports, particularly basketball, football, and fishing. He had a passion for restoring cars and had once been a Golden Gloves boxer. His interests and hobbies reflected his vibrant personality and zest for life.
Franklin was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Mary Elizabeth Simpson; his brother, Jerry Lee Gill; and his brother-in-law, Robert E. Gripp.
He is survived by his son, Jonathan Simpson; his daughter, Tiffany Reames; his granddaughter, Summer Napier; his siblings, Donna Lee Gripp, William G. Gill (Jennifer Denise), and Mary Frazier (Billy); as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM and from 9:00 AM until the time of service on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Legacy Schoppenhorst Chapel Funeral Home, 1832 W. Market St., Louisville, KY 40203. The funeral service will take place at 11:30 AM on Wednesday at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
Franklin will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
