Franklin Delano Shanklin Jr., age 60, passed away on April 25, 2026, following a sudden illness. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Franklin Delano Shanklin Sr. and Shirley (Young) Rupe.
Franklin was a man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Whether casting a line into the water on a quiet morning or sitting around the table enjoying a good game of poker, he cherished the moments that brought laughter, relaxation, and connection. Above all, he valued time spent with those he loved, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia Shanklin; his son, Christopher Hall; and his daughter, Brittany Hall (Casey Brashear). He also leaves behind his siblings, Tracy Shanklin (Shonna), Anita Shanklin, and Teresa Shanklin; five cherished grandchildren; the mother of his children, Michelle "Missy" Hall; and his dear friend, Mike Wakeland. Each of them carries forward memories of his humor, his spirit, and the quiet strength he brought into their lives.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Legacy Funeral Center - Schoppenhorst, 1832 West Market Street. Funeral services in his honor will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
